Saturday Morning Winter Weather (1/18/20)

MCS Staff

We’ve been tracking this system for about a week now. Last weekend there was a slight chance it came early enough to disrupt the Friday evening commute, but it was very apparent that this would be a Saturday thing for a while now.

While many, including myself, don’t want winter weather on the weekend…there are plenty who have activities going on that may be affected. This update’s for you!

I expect the snow to make it into town in the late morning hours (around 8/9am). We’ll see some snow…anywhere between a coating to two inches (I’m looking at you, Damascus).

Things will likely flip to a sleet/freezing rain combo and could make things slick into the late afternoon. While this isn’t expected to be a major ice storm, we know what just a little bit of ice can do to our area.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see MCPS buildings closed on Saturday, just to keep it on the safe side.
