Olney’s First Brewery, Lone Oak Brewery, Just a Couple Months Away

A little while ago, we introduced you to Lone Oak Brewery located in Olney off of Olney Laytonsville Rd. We went back again today to check out their progress and we were shown around by founders Chris and Charlie Miller, who both graduated from Magruder High School and partnered with Ralph and Ryan Mollet of Gaithersburg to bring you the brewery.

As of right now, they estimate a mid April opening. Lone Oak emphasizes local resources— they plan to grow some of their own ingredients including blueberries, blackberries, and possible pumpkins. They also plan to keep their own bees for honey, and they have even included wood from local trees into their buildings.

Though there are a few breweries within a few miles of Lone Oak Brewery, this will be the first one that’s actually located in Olney (5000 Olney Laytonsville Rd).

Today we were shown around by founders Chris and Charlie Miller, who both graduated from Magruder High School, as well as partners Ralph and Ryan Mollet of Gaithersburg (M&M builders and contractors).

There are a few things that are different about Lone Oak Brewery. To start, parking will be plentiful. Bathrooms will also be located indoors and will have plenty of room to handle all patrons.

Additionally, the tasting room will be spacious and they will have space for outdoor tasting year round. Part of the charm of the brewery is the view of the farm property, a pond, and the White Oak (Maryland’s State tree) that the farm is named after.

Included in our post is a flyer that highlights how to support the local brewery by joining their Founder’s Club or becoming a Local Legend.
