MoCo Announces 50 Ballot Drop Off Locations for 2020 General Election

Montgomery County officials are looking to think inside the box for the upcoming election. Holding elections during a pandemic was always going to be a tricky undertaking, and many citizens relied on Maryland’s mail-in voting program to cast their votes in the June primary elections. Official ballot drop-boxes are a convenient method for MD voters to cast their ballot without having to put it in the mail.

Maryland’s plan for a safe and fair November election has hit some real roadblocks. COVID-19 has reduced the ability of the state to staff its 1,500+ polling places effectively. In order to counteract this, Montgomery County has sought to find ways to provide voters with the convenience of expanded drop-boxes.

With this in mind, Montgomery County Board of Elections has announced that 50 different ballot drop off locations will be opened in different stages. Voters will be able to drop off their complete & voted ballot safely and securely through 8PM on November 3rd. For a complete listing of locations and the stage at which each will open, please visit https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/Elections/dropbox.html

Maryland’s voter registration deadline is Tuesday, October 13th, and requests for mail-in ballots must be received by the Maryland Board of Elections no later than Tuesday, October 20th.  If you would like to learn more information about voter registration and ballot options, please visit the Maryland Board of Elections website at https://www.elections.maryland.gov/voting/absentee.html
