MCPS Prepared to Provide Online Instruction/Regional Meal Sites if Schools Close Due to Coronavirus

In a community message sent out on March 4th, MCPS outlined a plan the school system would follow in the event of school closures due to the corona virus.

The message acknowledges that the DHHS (Department of Health and Human Services) has shared that the risk to the general American public remains low and that to date, no cases have been confirmed in Maryland or in the National Capital Region.

It goes on to outline how MCPS handles sanitary practices in school buildings and facilities along with best practices for overall health in cold and influenza season with students, parents and staff (including preventative measures).

The message ends with how instructional activities would proceed in the event of school closures and links to a series of FAQ on the MCPS Coronavirus webpage.

Regional meal sites are a very partial solution for kids used to getting breakfast and lunch in school.

We’ll abide by that for our own safety
