Jeff Halpern, the assistant coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning NHL team, is from Potomac.
Halpern grew up in Potomac and played travel hockey in the area. He attended Winston Churchill High School before attending St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire.
Halpern played college hockey at Princeton University and was a center in the NHL. He played for many teams, including mainly his hometown Washington Capitals over his fifteen year NHL career. He amassed 152 goals, 221 assists over 976 regular season games.
Currently, the Tampa Bay Lightning are in the 2020 Stanley Cup Final against the Dallas Stars, and Halpern is looking to help the Lightning to their second ever Stanley Cup victory.
