Alex’s First Orangetheory Update (7/17)

Orangetheory Update #1: 7/17 Weigh-in
Since I’m going on vacation this evening, I wanted to weigh in last night so I could see where I was at after 7 classes.

I weighed in at 7:45pm, just before my 8th workout since starting on July 7th. I chose to weigh in at night because I felt it would be more of a “real” weight– not just the loss of a bunch of water weight.

To clarify, I am not changing my diet in any way for now. I’m not proud to admit that I eat out often and I drink soda. It’s a big part of why I gained weight, along with lack of exercise, but the only thing I’ve changed is adding the Orangetheory workouts to my regimen. I’m going 4-5 times a week, though only 3 classes are required per week for at least 6 of the 8 weeks during this Transformation Challenge.

The workouts are different every time. I was pretty nervous before the first 3 or 4 classes because it’s a fast paced workout, but the instructors walk you through everything and are extremely helpful throughout.

I love that Orangetheory holds me accountable. When you’re in there, it’s strictly business. It’s non-stop but you move at a pace that’s appropriate for you.

I’m a music guy, but you don’t have to worry about headphones and playlists at OTF. There’s music pumping throughout, and I haven’t heard a mix that hasn’t helped keep me going so far.

I’ve burned an average of about 800 calories per class (1 hour).

Here are my 10 day results, I’ll check in again in a couple weeks.

Weight: 207.8 to 204.8
BMI: 29.2 to 28.8
Body Fat: 31.1 to 29.8
Muscle: 32.4 to 33.1
Body age: 62 to 60

Improvements in all areas so far!

I appreciate all of the support from the first post.

Orangetheory was happy to see the buzz around my challenge, so they’re giving us a MoCoShow deal. Anyone who gets an elite or premier membership while I’m doing my Transformation Challenge (and mentions The MoCoShow) will be entered into a raffle to win a free month of the premier membership.

I’ll check in again in a couple weeks and I’ll post my schedule when I’m back from vacation. I plan to take a class or two down in Florida and New Orleans too!
