Alex Starts the Orangetheory Fitness Transformation Challenge

As many of you may know, I’m a P.E. teacher in the county. Each day I go to work and teach kids the skills necessary to remain active for a lifetime, but in recent years I have failed to practice what I preach as the amount of exercise in my life has decreased and the eating has increased.

At 36 years old and standing at 5’11, I’ve spent most of my adult life in the 170-180 pound range with my body fat in the upper teens. On Sunday, I weighed in at 207.8 pounds and my body fat had nearly doubled…31.2%

I had a “body age” of 62!!!

I’ve tried starting back up at the gym or going for runs, but things just aren’t the same… so I decided to  reach out to Orangetheory Fitness. We decided that I’d try them out for 8 weeks for what they call a “transformation challenge.”

For the challenge, one must participate in a class at least three times per week for six of the eight weeks. I plan on attending 4-5 classes per week to maximize my results (though I’ll be on vacation for a week during the challenge).

Orangetheory has MoCo locations in Clarksburg, Gaithersburg, Olney, Potomac, and Silver Spring. If you’re interested in joining me for a class (your first one would be free) just give the studio a call. My schedule for the next 8 days is as follows:

Wednesday, 7/10: 4:15pm Clarksburg (443) 927-9100
Thursday, 7/11: 7:00pm Potomac (301) 265-5050
Saturday, 7/13: 12:00pm, Olney (443) 221-6700
Sunday, 7/14: 12:35pm, Silver Spring (301) 798-7433
Tuesday, 7/16: 6:30pm, Gaithersburg (301) 250-1060
Wednesday, 7/17: 8:00pm, Clarksburg (443) 927-9100

Wish me luck!
